Bunbury Mitsubishi was founded in 1983 by Mr Kerry Lucas as a small family owned concern whose core business was the retailing of both new Mitsubishi vehicles and pre-owned vehicles. The business was purchased in December 1996 by Mr Russell Hall. At the age of 30, Russell became the youngest Owner/Dealer Principal in Australia for Mitsubishi Motors.

Since that time, the company purchased some land and built a separate Parts and Service Department about 100 metres up the road at 99 Forrest Avenue effectively doubling the size of the business as was needed for the volume of sales had more than doubled.

In December 2007 Russell purchased Bunbury Chrysler Jeep Dodge next door to Bunbury Mitsubishi from Kerry Lucas, and demolished the dividing wall between the two premises which made way for a required increase in the Used Car Department which now stocks between 80 and 100 vehicles at any one time. 

The introduction of the Mahindra brand completes an international and varied line-up of new car brands.  Mahindra is one of the top Indian automotive brands and has been proven to be a trusted, reliable workhorse across its 60 year history.

The service department for Bunbury Chrysler Jeep Dodge was relocated to the existing Mitsubishi Service Department at 99 Forrest Avenue which created the space for the now named “Bunbury Auto Group”.

There is further growth planned over the coming years. The existing Service and Parts Department at 99 Forrest Avenue will be expanded following the recent acquisition of the next door premises at number 101, creating separate Service Departments for each of the brands we look after.

After starting with 14 employees, the company now has in excess of 40 team members. Russell has put the growth down to the people that are in the team and the dedication they have to customer service. One of Russell’s favourite sayings is ‘we don’t sell cars, we sell service’

In a business where it is very hard to keep people happy all the time, we may not have a 100% strike rate but we believe that nobody else tries harder than the team at Bunbury Auto Group.  As the company slogan indicates, Bunbury Auto Group "Where you matter most".
